Beach in The Reef Playacar Beach Resort & Spa-Optional All Inclusive
We liked the size of the resort, there was enough to do and it was easy for our group members to find each other or have some space if we wanted it. The beach is excellent - white sand for miles and some sand bars when you swim out which keeps playing in the waves fun and interesting. Waves were small some days but quite large when it was windy, again, keeping it interesting. The frontage of the beach changed a lot as waves brought sand in and pulled it out over the days of our visit. Lots of chairs on the beach and at the pools but you do want to throw a towel over them before 8 am if you want your preferred seats. Sunrise is pretty and peaceful. The proximity to 5th ave was great for some shopping and people watching. The New Years Eve party was incredible- the resort went all out with entertainment and decorations, we felt very VIP. The snack bar was so great for our kids and there were several options for getting drinks and food throughout the day. The buffet had plenty of options, and we booked the Italian and Mexican restaurants a few times for a bit of a change. Our group preferred the buffet but appreciated the 4 course meals in the a la carte restaurants. Staff were very friendly and the vibe was great. The grounds are well kept and really nice with lighted walkways through the jungle and a seating area next to a small cenote/waterfall. The contrast between the pool/beach and the jungle is nice as the jungle is quieter and cooler. We would totally recommend this resort. We are a blended family with 4 kids aged 21-15 and we loved our 11 days over Xmas/New Years 2024/25.

The hotel itself is lovely. They’ve done an incredible job of landscaping it and the trees and vines around the property is breathtaking - as are the views from all around. The rooms are pleasant and they change your bedding everyday and clean the room to a very high standard. The food is good and there is enough to keep everyone satisfied. The drinks aren’t great and it is quite the task to not be served in a plastic cup. The location is amazing and town, which is very vibrant, is just a short walk away. The beach is beautiful and I enjoyed the pool. The hawk lady makes for very good people watching.

The menu was very diverse and super tasty - unlike the reviews we read prior to arriving. We stayed for 15 nights and loved every meals. The beds were very confortable and the facilities and were extremely clean and well maintained. The grounds were natured-filled and we loved the smaller nature of this complex in comparison to bigger resort chains. The pool bar staff were great. The close proximity to the 5th avenue was fantastic! Filtered and cold water machine everywhere which was super convenient. Beachfront and superb beach!

The hotel is beautiful, It looked very different of what I expected but in a good way. We didn't get the all inclusive because we had tours on the days we stayed. The place were Is located is very nice, is a private location and has a lot of things inside you can walk and find a few restaurants, Starbucks, some mini market The beach was beautiful too, the restaurant had a view!

We loved the clean beaches. The friendly staff. The amount of excursions. The concierge was phenomenal. They helped with all of our excursions. The food especially breakfast! The specialty restaurants. The Mexican was my favorite. You will see the person who helped us the most in taking this once trip and making it a reality for many more in our photos.
